Congratulations to Terrebonne 4-H member and Wetland Ambassador Makayla Rhodes, who recently won First Place in the Wild Things Youth Art Contest.

16-year-old Makayla’s drawing, “Reflections of Beauty,” features two waterfowl floating in a body of water. “Reflections of Beauty” earned Makayla the top prize in the 14-16-year-old division of the contest.

“I’m so proud of Makayla and her accomplishment. She has grown as a leader not only within 4-H but in the community as well,” said Cherie Roger, Terrebonne Parish 4-H Youth Development/Parish Chair. “Makayla has the kindest soul and is extremely talented. This win and that smile on her face warms my heart. She is so deserving.”

Alongside being an active member of Terrebonne 4-H, Makayla is a Wetlands Ambassador with the Youth Wetlands Education & Outreach Program (YWP). The YWP is a partnership between the LSU AgCenter and the Coastal Protection & Restoration Authority, which engages Louisiana youth in the fight against wetland loss. See more about the program here.

Congratulations to Makayla for this accomplishment and her work to protect our coast! For more information, please visit Terrebonne 4-H on Facebook.
