Terrebonne Parish Council Commends Recently Retired Captain Lonnie Lusco for 33 Years of Service

During their recent meeting, the Terrebonne Parish Council commended Captain Lonnie Lusco for 33 years of service to the Houma Police Department.

 

The proclamation was read as follows by Councilman Daniel Babin: “Whereas, Lonnie Lusco is retiring after 33 years of dedicated service as Captain of the Houma Police Department for the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government; and

 

“Whereas, Captain Lusco began his employment with the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government on September 15, 1991; and whereas, Captain Lusco’s service to the Parish was marked by his selflessness and dedication to his duties that included being a dedicated Police Officer, Supervisor of Car Patrol, Detective, Narcotics Officer, Sergeant in charge of Crime Scenes, Evidence Custodian, Chief of Detectives, and Administrative Captain; and

 

“Whereas, Captain Lusco will be fondly remembered for his excellence in leadership, his personable demeanor, and for the enthusiastic pride he took in all of his endeavors for the Parish.

 

“Now, therefore be it resolved by the Terrebonne Parish Council, on behalf of the Parish President and the entire Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government, that the extraordinary service of Captain Lonnie Lusco is hereby publicly acknowledged to the people of the Houma-Terrebonne community, and that he is extended the sincerest best wishes for his future.”

 

Captain Lusco was present at the Council meeting to receive his commendation.

 

“I’d like to give thanks where it belongs– thank you to God for being with me every step of my career, thank you to my family for excusing my absences in times of emergency when I couldn’t be with them, thank you to my law enforcement family at the Houma Police Department, but also the brothers and sisters from all the other departments, and thank you also to the many Terrebonne Parish agencies that supported us everyday,” said Captain Lusco. “And finally, thank you to all the citizens of the community for allowing me to protect and serve for these 33 years. Thank you and God Bless.”

 

“This community is better off because of people like you,” said Daniel Babin. “Whatever lies in your future, you have our full support.” Several Terrebonne Parish Council members, including Terrebonne Parish President Jason Bergeron, went on to express their gratitude as well.
