As early voting for the 2024 presidential election opened last week, the Terrebonne Registrar of Voters and Louisiana Secretary of State would like to remind all voters to be mindful of specific rules– to keep voting safe and fair for all involved.

“Voters are reminded that electioneering within 600 feet of a polling location is strictly prohibited by law, which includes wearing any campaign paraphernalia such as clothing, hats, signs, buttons, etc. that advocate for or against any candidate, proposition, or political party appearing on the ballot,” reads a statement from the Louisiana Secretary of State.

Violators will be asked to remove the items in question, or will be referred for prosecution under RS 18:1462 for noncompliance.

“All polling locations are neutral zones and we want everyone to have the right to cast their vote free from undue influence of any kind,” reads a statement from the Terrebonne Registrar of Voters.

Early voting is now open and will take place through October 29, 2024 (except for Sundays).

The registrars of voters will open their offices from 8:30 AM-6:00 PM for each day of early voting. When you go to cast your vote early, you will be asked to identify yourself with either a photo ID or signature on a voter affidavit. You may use a Louisiana driver’s license, a Louisiana special identification card, a United States military identification card that contains your name and picture or other generally recognized picture identification card that has your name and signature.

Terrebonne residents may cast their votes early at the following location:

  • 8026 Main Street, Suite 101 in Houma (985) 873-6533
