The Terrebonne Parish School Board took the following actions at its regular meeting last Wednesday. All board members were present, and all actions were approved unless otherwise noted.

• Requested information regarding Laidlaw Transit First Student, including the total cost of drivers, cost of buses on a per unit basis and maintenance costs. The information was presented at the Buildings, Food Service and Transportation Committee’s Dec. 10 meeting.

• Awarded McInerney and Associates a $1.9 million contract for the masonry restoration, waterproofing and window replacement project at Terrebonne High School and an alternate for replacement of the school’s stadium windows. The adjusted price of the work is just over $1 million, bringing the total cost to $2.3 million. Monies budgeted for similar work at Houma Jr. High School will be transferred to cover the cost.

• Approved $115,000 be spent replacing the auditorium air handling unit at South Terrebonne High School. The control system is being upgraded from pneumatic to electric.

• Renewed a commercial lease with Robert J. Prejeant for $900 per month rent on property located at 240 and 240R Barrow St. in Houma.

• Approved a request allowing East Houma Elementary School Principal Sylvia Champagne and teachers Miriam Cheramie and Anne Griffin, Gibson Elementary teacher Marilyn Cornes, Oakshire Elementary teacher Gayle Raynal and Pointe-aux-Chenes Elemen-tary teacher Debra Guidry to attend the 16th annual Southeast Reading Recovery/Early Literacy Institute in Virginia Beach, Va., Jan. 16-18, 2008. The trip will be funded with Title 1 monies.

• Approved a request allowing Rebecca Breaux, supervisor of finance in the Central Office, to attend the Southeastern Association of School Business Officials (SASBO) 2008 Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla., Jan. 24-26, 2008. The expenses will be paid by the state Association of School Business Officials.

• OK’d a request allowing Lacache Middle School principal Anita Landry, librarian Gloria Haydel and teachers Patricia Ledet and Lisa Lapeyrouse to attend the 2008 National Conference on Accelerating Learning in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 2-5, 2008.

The trip will be paid for with Title 1 funds.
