May 7, 2009Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes at Louisiana State Police Troop C? Residents can see it all firsthand at Saturday’s 5th annual Open House, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gray headquarters.
Troop C’s commander, Capt. Darrin Naquin promises there’s more to state police than writing tickets and investigating traffic crashes. The day’s tour includes several demonstrations and a close-up look at the various equipment troopers’ use.
The bomb robot and bomb detection K-9 from the agency’s Hazardous Materials/Explosives Section and an Air Support helicopter display will be on view, as will aspects of Troop C’s SWAT, Narcotics, Applied Technology and K-9 sections. The brand new State Police Mobile Command will also be present.
In addition, visitors can tour Troop C and view the various police vehicles.
Troopers will also offer a child safety seat inspection conducted by a certified technician, and will take fingerprint and DNA samples of children. The samples will be given to parents for safekeeping.
Food and beverages will be served.
Troop C is located on La. Highway 24 North at U.S. Highway 90. Additional parking is available at the Terrebonne Truck Store next door.
