Tropical cyclone shows 90% chance of development within the next week

The National Weather Service has released information that there is a tropical cyclone likely to affect the northern/northeastern Gulf Coast late this week.

There is a high (80%) chance of development in the next 2 days. There is a high (90%) chance of development in the next 7 days.

While it is too soon to say for sure whether the storm will have direct local impact, current trends suggest the threat to Louisiana is decreasing.
