Allen “Beanie” Matherne, 73, a native Vacherie Gheens, La. who lived in Grand Isle, La., and resident of Raceland, La. for the past five years, died Sunday, May 17, at 11:20 p.m.
He is survived by his mother, Esther L. Matherne; sons, Jackie Matherne and wife Tammy Matherne, Donald Somerville, Allen Matherne, Jr. and his wife Cheryl Matherne, and Landris Matherne and his wife Denise Matherne; daughters, Mary Matherne Blouin and husband Ray Blouin, Esther Matherne Hornback and husband Karl Hornback, Shawna Matherne Rodrigue and husband Glenn Rodrigue, Jr.; 18 grand children, and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Diana R. Matherne; father, Wiley A. Matherne; brother, Robert “Bob” Matherne; maternal grandparents, Louis Louviere and Victoria S. “La La” Louviere; paternal grandparents, Matilda Matherne Dufrene and Valture Matherne; great-grandson, Trase P. Gaudet; and great-nephew, Hunter Matherne.
Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gheens, La. with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at Holy Savior Catholic Cemetery in Lockport, La.
