
100 years of freshness marks butcher shop

March 27, 2013Alton Lawrence Broussard Sr., 78, a native of New Iberia, La., and resident of Franklin, La., died Monday, March 18, 2013.
Mr. Broussard was the owner of Franklin Janitorial Service and was a retired employee of the St. Mary Parish School Board. He was U.S. Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve veteran. He was a member of the Franklin Lions Club, Franklin Elks Lodge, Opelousas Elks Lodge and St. Mary Parish Elks Lodge. He was a member of the Krewe of Teche, the King’s 12th Knight Club, the Franklin Golden Age Club and St. Mary Parish AARP. He was a devout Catholic and enjoyed making wooden yard decorations and camping. He was an avid LSU football and baseball fan, a New Orleans Saints fan and a wonderful husband and beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, EmmaDel Broussard; children, Hope (Jerry) Uze’, Faith (Mark) Ownby and Alton Jr. (Faith), Jeffrey (Katherine) and Mark Broussard; brother, Larry (Barbara) Broussard; sister, Judy Dantin; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucy and Adrian Broussard.
Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at Ibert’s Mortuary and 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, at the Church of the Assumption with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at Franklin Cemetery. (Ibert’s)
