
Lafourche Parish committee formed to fix jail woes

Alton Paul Fields, 85, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, April 6, at 5:30 a.m.
He is survived by his sons, Larry Fields and wife, Brenda, of Houma, and Lynn Fields and wife, Cynthia, of Schriever, La.; grandchildren, Austin Fields of Batesville, Ar., Michelle Cheramie, Craig Fields of Houma and Stephanie Welch of Knoxville, Tn.; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Guidry Fields; his parents, Ryder Fields and Agnes Babin Fields; brothers, Anthony and Roy Fields; and sisters, Odessa Fields and Odie Fields.
He was a retired pumper with Texaco and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
He was buried St. Bridget Cemetery.
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
