Alvin Anthony Scott Sr., 87, a native of Dulac, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died at 8 a.m. Monday, May 19.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Kieff Scott of Houma; son, Alvin Scott Jr. and wife, Janice, of Houma; daughters, Enola Fanguy and husband, Adam, Verna Layne and husband, Steve, of Houma, and Alisa Frederick and husband, Jonah, of Schriever, La.; brothers, Essie Scott and Floyd Scott of Houma; sister, Norma Bourgeois of Houma; grandchildren, Earnie Scott, Jamie Scott, Yancy Bourg, Dodie Scott, Shana Phillips, Hope LeBouef, Holly Trosclair, Stephen Fanguy, Victoria Layne and Adrianna Frederick; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Scott and Angelique Darcey Scott; brothers, Harry Scott Sr., Irvin Scott and Carroll Scott; one sister, Pearl Stoufflet.
He was a retired carpenter and fisherman, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with mass to follow. He will be buried at the church cemetery.
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
