September 4, 2013Alvin Joseph “T Van” Metrejean Sr., 75, a native of Pierre Part, La., and resident of Bayou Vista, La., died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013.
Mr. Metrejean had a love of garfishing. If he wasn’t outdoors in his boat, he was outdoors working on his next fishing trip. Following his retirement as a boat captain, he took up commercial fishing. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Firm in his Catholic faith, he regularly attended Sunday mass at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista. He was a man of great character and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anna Mae Metrejean; children, Alvin Jr. (Dana) Metrejean, Sheryll (Glen) Lanclos, Darlene (Walter III) Chauvin and Gail (David) Cantrell; brother, Rand Metrejean; sister, Maggie Foret; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Louise Metrejean; brother, Claude Metrejean; sisters, Annie, Frances, Mae and Louetta; and two grandchildren.
Entombment is at St. Joseph Catholic Church Mausoleum in Patterson. (Hargrave)
