June 27, 2014Anthony Marie Sr., 96, a native of Montegut, La., and resident of Chauvin, La., died Monday, June 23, 2014.
Mr. Marie was a U.S. Army veteran and was awarded a presidential citation, a World War II victory medal, a Germany campaign medal, an American campaign medal with a silver star, an American campaign medal with five bronze stars, a good conduct medal and a sharpshooter medal. He owned Harbor Light Inn for 30 years and was a member of VFW Post 9608, American Legion Post 380, Montegut Lions Club and Ward 7 Citizens Club. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Bernice Marie; daughter, Inga Boudreaux; son, Gus Jr. (Sandra) Marie; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Cecile Marie; daughter, Suzie Marie; brothers, Morris, Oris, Norris and Oneil Sr. Marie; sisters, Oneilia King, Ezar Dupre, Winona Voisin and Julia Blanchard; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Elie Cemetery. (Chauvin)
