Antoine “Tan” Bernard, 71, a resident of Bayou L’ourse, La., passed away Thursday, Aug. 20, at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Bernard; two sons, Anthony Bernard and wife Sandra of League City, Texas, and Paul Bernard of Morgan City, La.; one daughter Jane Chelette and her husband David of LaPorte Texas; one brother, James Leo Bernard and his wife Barbara of Opelousas, La.; one sister, Marie Leger and her husband Levi; one sister-in-law, Geneva Bernard of Patterson, La.; his mother, Helea Marks Bernard of Port Berry, La.; two grandchildren whom he loved very much, Justin and Dayna Chelette; numerous nieces and nephews; and Gary Bullock of Morgan City.
Antoine was preceded in death by his father, Francis Bernard; two brothers, David Joseph Bernard and John Bernard; and one nephew, James “Jimmy” Bernard.
Antoine loved to hunt and spend his time in the outdoors. He was a member of St. Mary Parish AARP.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Twin City Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday, Aug. 22, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Antoine will be laid to rest at the St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Amelia, La.
