Augustine “Gussie” Bourg Taylor, 92, a native of Bourg, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Thursday December 11.

Beloved wife of the late Captain George B. Taylor; daughter of the late Francis and Josephine Charpentier Taylor; mother of Sandra Falcon and husband Delton of Houma, Shannon Lirette and husband Brent J. of Cypress, Tx., Susan Guidroz and husband Steve of Houma, Sally Jo Haydel and husband Al of River Ridge, La., and the late George Robert Taylor; sister of the late Lawrence Bourg, the late Francis “Temon” Bourg, the late Benny Bourg, the late Robert “Bobby” Bourg, Josephine “Nanny” Junot of Houma, Nellie Giblaint of Mobile, Al., and the late Beaulah Toups; grandmother of George Falcon Sr., Stacie Kilgore, Gretta Jo Calongne, Jaime Stuart, Stephani Siddon, Sarah Guidroz, Sheri Guidroz, Erika Haydel, Adam Haydel; and great-grandmother to George Joseph Falcon Jr., Karoline Calongne, Blake Stuart, Isabella Siddon, Katelyn Kilgore, Katharine Calongne, Bret Stuart and Luke Siddon.

Her greatest legacy was the love of her family and her deep and undying faith and trust in God. She was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She was the former President of the St. Francis Ladies Alter Society and member for 30 years. She was also a member of the American Legion Society The F.O.P. Auxiliary. She was the recipient of the Bishop’s Medal for her dedication to the Catholic church. She was salutatorian of her graduating class at St. Francis de Sales Academy in 1933. She graduated from South Louisiana Business College in New Orleans in 1934.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Monday, December 15, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral in Houma. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday December 14, at Chauvin Funeral Home, 5899 Highway 311, Houma, and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday December 15, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
