Bertha Mae Beauty Howard-Holmes, 79, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, July 27.
She is survived by her sons, Isaiah S. Holmes, Jr., Rev. Terrance (Tammy) Holmes and Derek (Ava) Holmes; daughters, Shirley Clement, Bertha (George) Pillot, Senoria (Tommie/Thomas) Jackson and Rosie (Jerome) Matthews; brother, James E. Beauty; and sisters, Lillian Smith, Mercedes Moses, Mildred Henry and Emma Harding.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Isaiah S. Holmes, Sr.; parents, Nixon Beauty and Hattie Jenkins Beauty; brothers, Clarence and Melvin Beauty; and sisters, Araminta B. Harris and Alma Beauty
She was Baptist and enjoyed cooking, sewing and traveling. She was a food service technician with Terrebonne Parish School Board.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 3, New Rising Sun Baptist Church with a wake service to follow. Religious services will be at 1 p.m. Monday August 4, at the church with burial at St. Luke Baptist Church in Bayou Dularge, La.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
