Bessie M. Matherne, 76, a native and resident of Des Allemands, La., died at 2:45 p.m. Friday, July 11.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel A. Matherne; one son, Dirk A. Matherne and wife, Laurie F. Matherne; two daughters, Valerie Matherne Lutz and husband, John, and Leah Matherne Cornwell and husband, Doyle; two brothers, Maurice Matherne and Lester Matherne; one sister, Betty M. Champagne; and four grandchildren, Evan Matherne, Colin Matherne, Bryce Cornwell and Aubrey Cornwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hypolite N. Matherne and Clementine Folse Matherne; three brothers, Eloie, George and Eddie Matherne; and three sisters, Elma M. Perrer, Velma M. Breaux and Thelma M. Dufrene.
She was a parishioner of St. Gertrude Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Nativity School.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, at St. Gertrude Catholic Church with mass to follow. She will be buried at the church cemetery.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
