Burdette Washington, 88, a native and resident of Lockport, La., died Thursday, October 2.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hill of Lockport; one brother, Alfred Kelso of Matheson, Il.; one adopted sister, Ella Mae Charles of Raceland, La.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband James Hill; second husband, George Washington; parents, Henderson and Elizabeth Kelso; one son, James Hill Jr.; three sisters, Elizabeth Johnson, Octavia Kelso and Olister Williams; and seven brothers, Milton, Jarred, Samuel, Rhoden, George, Cleveland and Clinton Kelso Sr.
She was a member of Greater New Fountain Baptist Church and served on the Deaconess Board. She loved cooking.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, October 11, at Greater New Fountain Baptist Church in Lockport with a religious service to follow. She will be buried at Sunlight Baptist Church Cemetery in Gheens, La.
Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
