LUMCON scientists frustrated with dwindling dollars for research

Carl F. Bienvenu, 76, a native of Houma, La. and a resident of Bourg, La. died at Terrebonne General Medical Center following a massive stroke, Saturday, February 9, 2008.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 54 years, Martha Fortson Bienvenu; daughters, Gail Morton and husband, Randy, of Memphis, Tn., Janelle Thibodeaux and husband, Kim, of Eagle River, Alaska, and Carla Goubert of Houma; grandchildren, Andrea Morton Hodges, Kimberly, Brian and Craig Thibodeaux, Nicholas and Ronny Goubert and Hayden Morton; four great-grandchildren; brother, Dale Bienvenu of Houma; and sister, Julie Chauvin of Houma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis A. Bienvenu and Gertrude L. Bienvenu; and grandchildren, Kurt Morton and Dustin Goubert.
Carl was a U.S. Korean War veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force as a flight engineer. He was retired from Texaco where he was a pumper supervisor. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and 12-Mile Hunting Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking.
