May 25, 2011Sgt. Major Charles “Charlie” Edward Wiggins, 78, a native of Shelby, N.C., a native of Raceland, La., died Wednesday, May 18, 2011.
Mr. Wiggins was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and Cooties.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Rushing Wiggins; sons, Malcolm (Katharin), James and Kenneth (Donna) Wiggins; stepson, Clarence Singletary Jr.; daughter, Denise (Ashley) Watts; stepdaughters, Jennie Armstrong and Jene Singletary; sister, Aileen Walker; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Wiggins; parents, Guy and Vernie Wiggins; brothers, Andy, Bob, Eugene, John, G.W. and Lloyd Wiggins; sister, Mary Lee Hufstickler; and one grandchild.
He is buried at Port Hudson National Cemetery. (Falgout)
