Chester Joseph Welch, 84, a native of Terrebonne, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, February 8, at 12:54 p.m.
He is survived by his sons, Jerome Welch and wife Debra of Houma, and Wilbert Howard and wife Mazie of Houston, Tx.; daughter, Barbara Mills of Houston; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel Welch and Alzena Brown Welch; daughter, Janice Bass Williams; and sisters, Louise W. Wolfe and Mildred W. Wolfe.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of the United Veteran League and Stone Square Lodge. He was a retired fisherman and a member of St. Luke Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, February 14, at St. Luke Baptist Church with a religious service to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
