Corps of Engineers wins flood fight during Gustav

Claire “Peachie” LeBouef Billiu Boudreaux, 70, a native of Houma, La., and a resident of Hammond, La., died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, August 30.
She is survived by one son, Mark S. Billiu of Houma; two daughters, Lauren B. Duplantis of Houma and Amy E. Billiu of Hammond; three grandsons, Brandon P. Duplantis and wife Tiffany of Houma, Luke B. Billiu of Bayou Blue, La., and Hunter M. Billiu; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Evan Duplantis; her mother, Pearl P. LeBouef of Houma; one sister, Christine L. Sullivan and husband, Daniel “Buddy” Sullivan; and one brother, Bernard “Tommy” LeBouef and wife, Susan.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 30 years, Donald J. “Chumpy” Billiu, father of her children; her father, Clay Bernard LeBouef; her paternal grandparents, George Peter LeBouef and Bertha Bernard LeBouef; and her maternal grandparents, Augustan Pitre and wife, Clara Pitre.
She was a member of the Terrebonne Art Guild, Terrebonne Historical and Cultural Society, Hammond Cultural Foundation, Hammond Art Guild and the Sunshine Ladies. She was a loving mother and grandmother, devoted to her family and love of painting and floral design.
She was buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
