Doris Hawkins Brown, 84, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Monday, March 17, 2014.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph Jr. (Sharanda), Melvin Sr. and James Brown; daughters, Marsha Sept, Gail Taylor, Martha Brown, Hazel Wallace, and Doris Young; brothers, Harold Sr., Lionel and Dolton Hawkins; sister, Neomi Poindexter; 24 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Brown Sr.; parents, Jimmie and Hazel Hawkins; sons, John and Dalton Brown; and brothers, Eddie Sr. and Jimmie Jr. Hawkins.
Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at First Corinthian Baptist Church with services to follow. Burial will be at Southdown Cemetery. (Gertrude Geddes Willis)
