Dr. Alcest L. Babin Jr., 79, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died Saturday, April 12, at 10:45 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Marion “Pie” Grabert Babin, sons, Dr. Lance Babin and wife Cathy, Ray Babin and wife Stacy, Ted Babin and wife Donna, Tim Babin and wife Annette and Tom Babin; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcest Babin Sr. and Marie Toups Babin; and sisters, Iris Cormier, Marie Weimer and Margurite Babin.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Knights of Columbus, Grand Marshall Club and the Bayou District Dental Association. He also served as a member of the Lafourche Parish School Board for 29 years. He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Raceland.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with mass to follow. He will be buried at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
