
Sailing museums embark for Houma

February 19, 2012Edward J. Mayon, 85, a native of Four Mile Bayou, La., and resident of Morgan City, La., died Monday, Feb. 13, 2012.
Mr. Mayon worked for Hamer’s Hammers, as one of the first Hammer Engineers, a field in which he became one of the pioneers of the oil industry. He loved his family immensely and was a known gentleman, a gentle soul who could call even the wildest of birds to his side.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Clarice Mayon; sons, Edward Jr., Mark Sr. (Cindy) and Darren Sr. (Pam) Mayon; daughters, Pamela Holt and Sandra (Richard) Berube; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clonie and Evelyn Mayon; brother, Louis Mayon Sr.; and sisters, Bernadette Fuselier, Ida Angelo and Lucile Bergeron.
Interment was at Morgan City Mausoleum. (Hargrave)
