Edward Bennett Messick Jr., 85, a native of Marksville, La., and resident of Mandeville, La., died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011.

Mr. Messick was a U.S. Navy Veteran. His passion was baseball and he maintained a .500 batting average while serving in the Navy. He retired with 32 years of service as an electronic’s engineer for the United States Government Federal Aviation Air Communication.

He is survived by his children, Becky Maestri, Melba Fields, Camme Miller, and Gary and Bruce Messick; brother, Alvin Messick; sister, Peggy Hamilton; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr. and Anne Bordelon Messick; and one sister, Lilly Glodt.

He is buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
