Ella Robertson Townsend, 73, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Monday, April 7.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Thompson and husband Richard; sons, Joseph Hayes Jr. and wife Verlena of Houma, La. and Steven Rene Hayes and wife Sarah of Thibodaux; sisters, Bessie Mae Evans of Gray, Charlotte McGuin of Thibodaux and Brenda Frye and husband James of Houma; brothers, Earl Robertson of Houma and Tom Robertson Jr. of Gray; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Hayes Sr.; her second husband, Clifford Townsend; parents, Tom Robertson Sr. and Ada Robertson; sisters, Ada Mae Falls, Geraldine Douglas and Carolyn Morgan and brother, Joe Robertson.
She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, a beautician and she enjoyed spreading God’s word.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Gray, La. She will be buried at St. Francis Cemetery # 2.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
