Ernest Jackson Britton Jr., 83, a native of Crowville, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Monday, June 27, 2011.
Mr. Britton was an avid sportsman who loved all forms of sports. He loved his family and was a dedicated member of Grand Caillou Baptist Church. He never met a stranger and he was loved by all who knew him. He was retired from Franks Casing Crew.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Britton; sons, Ernest (Ketti) Britton and Shane (Elene) Matherne; daughters, Pat (Doug) O’Neal and Pamela (Darrin Sr.) Guidry; sisters, Odessa (Robert) Dolan, Mildred Wall and Betty (Wilson) Bailey; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Edna Sue Britton; brother, Leon Britton; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at Chauvin Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. (Chauvin)
