Corps of Engineers wins flood fight during Gustav

Ethel M. Ledet, 72, a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died after a two-year battle with leukemia, Saturday, August 30.

She is survived by her companion, Earl Domangue; four daughters, Janet Portier and husband Charles, Susan West and husband Ed, Rhonda Guilfou and husband Nathan, and Karen Ledet; two brothers, Raymond Leboeuf and Roland Leboeuf; one sister, Thelma Porche; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin J. Ledet; her parents, Willis and Lillian Leboeuf; one infant daughter, Loraine Ledet; and one sister, Aline Breaux.

She was buried at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Chauvin.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
