
Haiti’s hardship helped by local charities

February 15, 2010Febronia “Nona” Rivera Maltman, 68, a native of Galveston, Texas, and a resident of Houma, La., died at 8:35 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 2010.
She is survived by her son, Miguel (Pamela) Chapa of Houma, La.; daughter, Susan (Brian) Bergeron of Covington, La.; foster son, Edwin Halford of Sweetwater, Texas; grandson, Shawn Chapa; granddaughters, Michelle and Elyse Bergeron, Shantelle McDaniels and Rachel Chapa; brothers, Chico, Geraldo, Paul and Herman Rivera; and sisters, Eleanor Taylor and Rosario Blanco.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William J. Maltman; parents, Pacheco Rivera and Guadalupe Lupita Gomez; son, Bobby Walker; and brother, Joe Rivera.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday, Feb. 11, at Chauvin Funeral Home. A service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Maltman will be buried at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
