March 6, 2014Gardner Leigh DeHart, 78, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and resident of Montegut, La., died Sunday, March 2, 2014.
Mr. DeHart was a self-employed contract welder and barge maintenance contractor. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed gardening, raising animals, fishing and rabbit hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Mary DeHart; sons, Wesley and Mitchell DeHart; daughters, Annette Alleman, Georgana Berger, Robbi Michel and Kayla Frickey; brothers, Wilfred and Floyd DeHart; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Ida DeHart; son, Shawn DeHart; first wife, Ethel DeHart; sisters, Nora Lovell and Estelle Voisin; and brothers, Herbert, Houston, Cyrus, Edmund, Eugis, Charles, Thomas, Easton and Willard DeHart.
Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, at St. Eloi Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery. (Chauvin)
