Gerald E. Gautreaux, 79, a native and resident of Larose, La., died Saturday, April 25, at 2:17 a.m.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Artamay Thomas Gautreaux; sons, Thomas Gautreaux and David Gautreaux; daughters, Joan LeBouef, Denise Duet and husband Ronald, Lisa Todd and husband Jim, Julie Calhoun and husband Andrew, and Rochelle Boulet and husband Henri; brother, Elmo Gautreaux; sisters, Marietta Carline, Elizabeth Gary and Evelyn Griffin; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Daisy Breaux Gautreaux; brothers, Albert Gautreaux, Jean Gautreaux, Leonard Gautreaux and Claude Gautreaux; son-in-law, Wayne LeBouef; and daughter-in-law, Sheila Gautreaux.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He was a member of the VFW and La Table Francaise. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and cooking for his family. He was Catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church with burial at the church cemetery.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Raceland, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
