Gerard P. Melancon, 63, a native of Lockport, La., and a resident of Galliano, La., died Thursday, April 10, at 8:52 a.m.
He is survived by his companion, Betty Authement; daughter, Kimberly Hebert and husband Matthew; brothers, Harold Melancon and Carol Melancon; sister, Gertie Bushnell; and grandchildren, Tatum Melancon, David Hebert, Luke Hebert and Daniel Hebert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Eleola Melancon; brother, Michael Paul Melancon; and sister, Nevtta Badeaux.
He was a retired driller whose hobbies included cattle farming and cutting hay. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was Catholic.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off, La. He will be buried at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
