Thibodaux church finds its place after 10-year expansion

Gilbert Gabriel Dufrene Sr., 87, a native of Lockport, La., and a resident of Paradis, La., passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2010.

He was a retired building contractor and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beulah Bergeron Dufrene; sons, Lucky and Sterling Dufrene; daughter, Phyllis Dufrene; brother, Earl Dufrene; 20 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parent, Oristille and Justillian Orgeron Dufrene; sons, Gilbert Jr., Cornel and Marty Dufrene Sr.; daughter, Sibyl D. Matherne; brothers, Ambrose, Lucien, Ferdinand, Walter, Gaston, George, Leve, and Leon Dufrene; and sisters, Isabelle Price, and Margaret and Lontine Dufrene.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14 at Falgout Funeral Home in Lockport. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14 at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport. Entombment will follow at the church cemetery.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
