Hazel JoAnn Cole Hughes

Hazel JoAnn Cole Hughes, 69, a native of New York and a resident of Houma, La., died Thursday December 18, at 8:48 p.m.

She is survived by her daughters, Kym Hughes and Kelly Allen of McKinney, Tx., Laura Lyn Hughes Welch and Rene’ “Luc” Welch of Jasper, Ga.; sons, Jay Hughes and Cris Hughes of The Woodlands, Tx.; grandchildren, Patricia Hughes, Aidan Welch and Dorian Welch; and her faithful companions, her dog “Bear” and cat “Kaboodles”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Cole and Winifred Larken Cole; husband, Jerry Hughes; brothers, Fred Cole and Jack Cole; and sister, Nancy C. Neal.

She was a retired hot shot driver who graduated from Brownsville High School and attended Nicholls State University.

Burial was at Hughes Springs Cemetery in Hughes Springs, Tx.
