Helen Verry Celestine, 75, a native of Bobtown, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Monday, October 20.
She is survived by her sons, Emmette Lewis and Reginald Lewis, Sr. of Houma; brothers, Moses and Paul Celestine of Grand Caillou, La.; sister, Gloria Weber of Harvey, La.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis, Sr.; parents, Rev. Thomas Lee Celestine and Nellie Ringo Celestine; son, James Lewis, Jr.; daughter, Joan E. Wilson; brothers, Thomas, Jr., Charles and Osborne Celestine; sisters, Cedonia Robinson, Eunice Charles, Eula Mae Morris, Olga Walker, Margaret Simmons and Agnes Calloway; and grandparents, Robert Celestine and Bessie Creasey.
She was Baptist and a member of Progressive Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and she enjoyed sewing, cooking and bingo.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 25, at Community Funeral Home with the funeral services to follow. Burial will be at Celestine Garden of Memories Cemetery.
