Horis Joseph Caro, 89, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011.

Mr. Caro was a retired farmer and owner of Caro Produce and a parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church.

He is survived by his son, Jerry (Terri) Caro; five grandchildren, James (Melissa) Caro, Beth (Tommy) White, Natalie (Peter) Franco, Peter (Donna) Caro and Amanda LeRay; 11 great-grandchildren, Jacob (Shea) Delaune, Taylor and Brianna Caro, Kandice (Ray Jr.) Francis, Philip and Neomie Franco, Brittney, Blake, Christopher and Ramsey Caro and Alyssa Stanley; and three great-great-grandchildren, Kenzi Francis, and Austin and Shealee Wallace.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Daigle Caro; and parents, Madio and Neomie Cadiere Caro.

The family would like to thank his longtime caregiver, Patricia Larabee and caregiver, Arlene Verdin, the doctors, hospitals, home health care and hospice who aided in his care.

He is buried at St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetery. (Chauvin)
