Hosea Terry, 97, a native and resident of Napoleonville, La., died Saturday, July 25.
He is survived by one daughter, Gayle Jupiter of Napoleonville; two brothers, Wilbert Terry of Napoleonville and Richmond Terry of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Louvolia Pinkey of Napoleonville and Ida Deverney of New Orleans, La.; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Owens Terry; parents, Richard and Lucindy Terry; one daughter, Gwendolyn Robertson; one brother, Noyd Terry; three sisters, Albertha Washington, Almenia Ryans and Sadie Howard; and one grandson, Matthew Jupiter.
He was a trustee at Bright Morning Star Baptist Church and served many years as treasurer. He was a member of Mano Wise, American Legion Post No. 507, Household of Ruth, and the Israelite Benevolent Society.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 31, at Williams and Southall Funeral Home in Napoleonville and 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 1, at Bright Morning Star Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church with burial at the church cemetery.
Williams and Southall Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
