February 18, 2014Houston A. “Sam Houston” Savoie, 82, a resident of Larose, La., died Monday, Feb. 3, 2014.
Mr. Savoie was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW. He retired from Valentine paper mill after 42 years of service. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry.
He is survived by his sons, Wayne (Mary), Glenn (Denise) and Mark (Trudy) Savoie; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sidonia Savoie; brothers, Sergis, Alton, Horace, Forrest and Earl Savoie; and sisters, Jane Plaisance, Annie Pennison, Vernice Ordoyne and Elta Fonseca.
Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Larose with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery. (Falgout)
