Huey P. Harris, 66, a native of Maringouin, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, Feb. 17 at Terrebonne General Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Dickerson Harris; sons, Huey, Jr. and Agnes Harris of Vacherie, La., Robert and Tawney Harris, Claudell and Angela Harris and Bruce Harris all of Houma, and Larry Harris of Thibodaux, La.; brother, Cornelius Harris, Jr. of Baker, La.; sisters, Mary Francis and Bertha Coston of Houma, and Augustine Cobette of New Orleans, La.; uncle, Walter and Lillie Harris of Maringouin; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Cornelius Harris, Sr.; sisters, Mildred Williams, Juliette White and Sadie Henry; and brothers, Leon and James Harris.
He was a member of the St. Lucy Catholic Church Gospel Choir and Father John McShane Council # 338 Knights of Peter Claver. He enjoyed barbequing, golfing and playing bingo.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Lucy Catholic Church building fund.
Visitation is 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb 21, at St. Lucy Catholic Church in Houma. Rev. Mark Toups will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial. He will be buried at Terrebonne Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Williams & Southall Funeral Home of Thibodaux is in charge of the arrangements.
