Jack Ernest Russell, 78, a resident of Morgan City, La., died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011.

Mr. Russell Jack was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was employed for over 30 years at Tesoro Petroleum Distributing in Amelia, La. During his retirement, he enjoyed visiting the library, watching old movies, crossword puzzles, riding his bicycle and long walks. He was a simple quiet man with few needs or wants and was well known for his not-so-funny jokes.

He is survived by his daughter, Melanie (Clint) Galliano; granddaughters, Valerie and Veronica Galliano; and sisters, Vivian Spinella and Barbara Russell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Annie Russell; wife, Joyce Russell; and sister, Betty Grizaffi.

Military honors by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad will be graveside at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Morgan City Cemetery. (Twin City)
