James Joseph Crowley Jr., 85, a native of Bronx, N.Y., and resident of Houma, La., died at 10:24 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, after a 10-year fight with leukemia.

An Internal Revenue Service auditor, Mr. Crowley owned Houma Bowl, Iberia Bowl and Creole Lanes. He was a member of Harvest Cathedral, V.F.W., American Legion, Elks, Knights of Columbus and Rotary, and was the founding member of Mr. Ronnie’s Doughnut Gossip Club. He served as the first king of the Krewe of Christopher.

Mr. Crowley was president and secretary of Bowling Leagues and LA State Bowling Proprietors Association and a member of the Knights of Columbus bowling team. An LSU fan and supporter, he enjoyed hunting, fishing baseball and the Yankees.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley DeHart Crowley; sons, James (Jamie) Crowley III, Lee (Donna), Brett (Dayna) and Craig (Leslie) Landry; daughter, Jane (Charles) Hebert; sister, Margaret Ruffino; eight grandchildren, Chucky Hebert, Todd Hebert, Wade Austin Landry, Mason Landry, Kirsten Landry, Connor Landry, Lexi Landry and Crissi Landry; and one great-grandchild, Dylan Hebert.

He was preceded in death by his father, James J. Crowley Sr.; and mother, Elizabeth Alen Crowley; and sister, Dorothy Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Leukemia Research Foundation at 3520 Lake Avenue, Suite # 202, Wilmette, Ill. 60091-1064.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, and from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Chauvin Funeral Home. His service will follow at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Crowley will be buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
