James “J.B” S. Butler, 64, a native of Pleasant Hill, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died peacefully at home after a long, courageous battle with cancer for five years, Sunday, May 3, at 11:25 a.m.
He is survived by his sons, James R. Butler and wife Regina Butler, and Sean Butler; daughter, Sandra Butler; brother, Frank Butler of Ukon, Okla.; sister, Freda and husband Mike Walker of Toledo Bend; and grandchildren, Zachary Butler, Zane Butler, Lacie Butler, Seth Butler, Samantha Butler and Shelby Butler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leslie Butler; parents, U.B. Butler and Marie Raburn Butler; and grandparents, Al and Annie Butler.
He was a superintendent for J. Ray McDermott for 44 years. He was an avid fishermen and NASCAR fan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, May 7, at Chauvin Funeral Home. A religious service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
