James Joseph Hebert Sr., 87, a native of Donaldsonville, La., and a resident of Raceland, La., died Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 8 a.m.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Chedotal Hebert; one son, James J. Hebert Jr. and wife Catherine; one brother, Junius “Sonny” Hebert; two half-brothers, Alan Hebert and Alvin Hebert; one sister, Jessie Mae Day; three grandchildren, Aaron, Kenneth and Alan Hebert; and one great-grandchild, Mercedes Elaine Hebert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Viola Bernard Hebert; one daughter, Peggy Hebert; one brother, Guy Hebert; and one sister, Barbara Coupel.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion, VFW, Disabled Veterans, Woodmen of the World and Sugarland Country Club. He was a parishioner of St. Hilary Catholic Church in Mathews, La.
Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at St. Hilary Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Raceland.
Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
