Jefferson Simon Guidry, 88, a native and resident of Cut Off, La., died Thursday, April 18, at 8:06 a.m.
He is survived by his companion, Julia Matherne Thibodeaux; son, Royce P. Guidry and wife Bonnie Walker Guidry; sisters, Willie Mae Doucet and Maize Bouffanie; and grandchildren, Michael Guidry and wife Tara, Mary Claire and Matthew Guidry.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Bychurch Guidry; parents, Andrew Joseph Guidry and Violet Plaisance Guidry; son, Melvin A. Guidry; daughter, Lee Anna M. Guidry; and brothers, Gus Guidry, Cleveland Guidry and Larris Guidry.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and senior citizen friends. He was retired from Oil Transport Services as a riverboat captain and fisherman. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, April 21, at Sacred Hearth Catholic Church in Cut Off with mass to follow. He will be buried at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Raceland, La. is in charge of the arrangements.
