Joe Robbins Sr., 82, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Gibson, La., died Monday, Aug. 24.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi (Eula) Daigs Robbins; one son, Joe Robbins Jr.; four daughters, Evelyn Robbins-Singleton and husband Larry, Carolyn Robbins-Jones and husband Calvin, Cathy Robbins and Sandra Robbins-Cambell; one sister, Hazel Robbins-Theriot; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas Robbins and Martha Jackson Robbins; one son, Silas Anthony Robbins; one brother, Eddie Celestine; and two sisters, Nell Robbins Crawford and Georgia Robbins Smith.
He was Baptist and a deacon at Christ Missionary Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in World War I and II.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29 at Christ Missionary Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
