Joffrey Cochennic Sr., 93, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, La., died at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, November 9.
He is survived by one son, Joffery Cochennic Jr. and wife Doris; two daughters, Dianna C. Cheramie and Elaine C. Simon and husband William; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kate Bourg Cochennic; his parents, Noel and Suzanne Rebstock Cochennic; one son-in-law, Albert J. Cheramie; three brothers, Forest, Fornest and Louie Cochennic; one half-brother, Torres Bernard; and one half-sister, Delta Bernard.
He was Chief Boatswain’s Mate U.S. Coast Guard in World War II and a member of the American Legion Post No. 259, Holy Name Society and Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow with mass to follow. He will be buried at the church cemetery.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Cut Off, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
