John Peter Lirette, 80, a native of Houma, La., and resident of Bourg, La., died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010.

Mr. Lirette was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. He was the owner of Lirette’s Produce and C and L Ironworks. He is a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons, John Jr., Michael Sr. (Elizabeth), Jack (Vicki), Samuel (Edith), Joey Sr. (Sarina), Gary (Pui), and Tommy (Dawn) Lirette; daughter, Cindy (Richard “Bo”) Tabor; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Violet Lirette.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Pellegrin Lirette; parents, Eddie Sr. and Celestine Fanguy Lirette; son, Timothy Joseph Lirette; grandson, Samuel Lirette; brothers, Eddie Jr, and Percy Jr. Lirette; sisters, Leola Bergeron, Libby Benoit, Pearl St. Romain and Eula Chauvin.

He is buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No.2.
