May 20, 2014Joseph “Papa Joe” Carlton Schouest Sr., 86, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, May 8, 2014.
Mr. Schouest loved fishing and hunting. The thrill of the catch, particularly a tarpon, was second only to his family. He was a parishioner of Annunziata Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Juanita Schouest; sons, Joseph Jr. (Bonnie), Chris Sr. (Cheryl) and Lance Sr. (Gloria) Schouest; daughters, Cheryl (Thomas) Brinkman and Trudy (James Jr.) Eichorn; sisters, Leona Rebert and Theresa Trosclair; brothers, Ellis Jr. and Eugene Schouest; 17 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis Sr. and Leona Schouest; and brothers, Michael and Timothy Schouest
Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 9, and 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at Chauvin Funeral Home with Liturgy of the Word to follow. Burial will be held at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
