He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen Poincon Gaudet of Houma; two sons, Ricky J. Gaudet and wife, Pam, and Hanson J. Gaudet and wife, Peggy, of Houma; one daughter, Theresa G. LeBlanc and husband, Danny, of Houma; two brothers, Johnny Gaudet and Richard Gaudet of Chackbay, La.; one sister, Florence Bonnette of Lockport, La.; six grandchildren, David Gaudet, John Gaudet, Paul Gaudet, Chad Gaudet, Bridgette Robichaux and Skyler Robichaux; one step-grandchild, Mason LeBlanc; and three great-grandchildren, Hunter Gaudet, Logan Gaudet and Taylor Gaudet.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, member of American Legion and VFW. He was past president and board member of TARC.

Joe had many loves in his life. One of which that was his passion was fishing. Next to that, spending time with his family and grandkids was another. He will always be remembered as a hard working man and to say that he was a “people person” would be an understatement. He never met a stranger and always remembered a friend.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be sorely missed by his family and to all who knew and loved him.

He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
