January 21, 2014Leroy Peter Dehart, 84, a native of Houma, La., and resident of Chauvin, La., died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014.
Mr. Dehart was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing, trawling and woodworking. He was seismic shooter for Shell Oil Company for 30 years. After his retirement he went on to work for the parish as a bridge tender for 10 years. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce DeHart; son, Sullivan DeHart; daughter, Dottie Wakeland; stepsons, Danny, Brian, Randy, Kevin and Craig LeBlanc; brother, Magnus DeHart; sisters, Doris Authement and Barbara Carlos; 14 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren,.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Davis and Lillian DeHart; son, Roger DeHart; brothers, Douglas, Jervais, Earl and Aubrey DeHart; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. (Chauvin)
